DISTRICT PLAN FOR INNOVATION AND LOCAL CONTROL
This document provides an overview of House Bill 1842, passed by the 84th Texas Legislature in 2015, which allows public school districts to become Districts of Innovation. Through a five-year innovation plan, districts can gain exemptions from certain state statutes, giving them greater local control, flexibility in educational programming, and the ability to plan and operate creatively to better meet student needs.
